Interestingly, one of the Halo games has yet to appear in the PC game lineup, but that may change in the near future.
Halo: Infinite was released in 2021, and since then 343 Industries has rebranded itself (now called Halo Studios) and ditched the Slipspace engine in favor of the now industry-standard Unreal Engine 5. We also recently heard that Xbox’s first big franchise could go multiplatform, with the Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5 getting Master Chief.
Most Halo games are available for Xbox and PC, but there is one exception. In Halo: The Master Chief Collection, you won’t find Halo 5: Guardians because it’s not included in the bundle. So if you don’t have an Xbox One (or, thanks to backwards compatibility, an Xbox Series) near you, you won’t be able to play it. Yes, but a possible PC port is in the works, as Halo 5: Guardians has also appeared on the Lenovo Legion Go S website, so the Chinese tech company may have something, and a possible announcement could come soon (not at Xbox Developer_Direct, which is on January 23rd?).
Microsoft has previously stated that some of the best Xbox and PC content would be coming to handheld format, and with the Redmond tech giant also preparing a handheld Xbox project, something could be up. Previously, we heard that a PC port of Halo 5: Guardians was in the works, but it didn’t materialize due to technical hurdles. There were reportedly frame rate issues, but that shouldn’t be a problem on more modern hardware.
So Lenovo may have slipped up. Leaks like this are also rare, and hopefully it’s not a case of the Chinese company randomly picking something to put in the Steam library shown in the image. Until then, it’s just a rumor…
