One of today’s most influential superstars, fashion and style icons has arrived at the music hall of Madame Tussauds Budapest. The newest figure in the production was modeled after a man who filled Madison Square Garden fifteen times in a row, was the first man to appear on the cover of Vogue, and broke records with his world tour. The wax figure of Harry Styles can already be seen in Budapest.
Madame Tussauds Budapest celebrated its newest permanent figure with a colorful press premiere. The event was like Styles himself: extravagant and unique. The barely 30-year-old young man began his career by briefly being eliminated from Britain’s The X Factor, before returning to the competition as a member of One Direction. The boy band achieved incredible success, but this was only the first step in Harry Styles’ life.
The singer started a solo career, won three Grammy awards – including one for best album – and attracted incredible crowds with his Love on tour. Styles filled New York’s iconic Madison Square Garden fifteen times, grossing a total of $617 million and receiving hysterical crowds wherever he traveled. He was also able to show himself as an actor in major Hollywood productions.
Harry Styles is much more than a stadium-filling pop star. He is a true cultural and style icon who sparked a fashion revolution with his eccentric dressing. Harry Styles encourages his fans to dress up for his concerts, so glittering sequined dresses, feather boas, sheer and pink garments are everywhere. The singer himself did not hold back when it came to his performance costumes: Styles brought men’s pearl necklaces, skinny jeans, Hawaiian and floral print blouses and vests into fashion. Styles appeared on the cover of Vogue in 2020 in a Gucci skirt. Until then, there had never been a man alone on the cover.
Harry Styles’ appearance is so special that he can be seen in different outfits on the figures shown in eleven Madame Tussauds productions around the world. The wax figure coming to Budapest is completely unique, the audience cannot admire her in this dress anywhere else.
Like most world stars alive today, Harry Styles took part in shaping his own image. The singer spent several hours in the workshop of Madame Tussauds near London with the artists, sculptors and technicians, this phase is called “sitting” in technical language. During the sitting, more than 200 measurements were taken on the star. From the location of the freckles to the height, the color of the eyes, and the distance between the ears, everything was carefully assessed by the experts so that the end result was as authentic as possible. About twenty people took part in the creation process, and the figure was made for almost half a year. The hairs of the hairstyle are placed on the wax head one by one – the meticulous work alone took several weeks.
Harry Styles is the 54th permanent figure of Madame Tussauds Budapest. “Today we celebrated another unforgettable moment when we presented the wax figure of Harry Styles. Today, Harry is the brightest star in the world of music and fashion, a true generational icon, who has tens of millions of fans around the world. From now on, everyone can experience its charm up close, standing on a stage with a superstar wearing one of the exciting performance outfits of the Love On Tour concert series. We also prepared a complete collection of clothes for the visitors, which anyone can try on to become a star for a while,” said Zsuzsanna Óhidi, operations director of Madame Tussauds Budapest. A party will soon be held in honor of Harry Styles.
