Battlefield 6: AMD’s Top Processor Beats Intel’s Hands Down! [VIDEO]

The Ryzen 7 9800X3D significantly outperforms the Core i9-14900K in performance, though the gap isn’t always as wide under closer examination. Testing Games’ benchmarks at 1080p with an RTX 5090 reveal the largest advantage.

In the days leading up to Gamescom, Testing Games released a detailed comparison of the two CPUs under very similar scenarios, a process that required considerable time. The key benchmark was at 1080p, where it’s easier to see which CPU hits its limit first – especially with an RTX 5090. At lower resolutions, the game leans more heavily on the CPU, with the Ryzen 7 9800X3D delivering roughly 29% better performance than the i9-14900K.

With ultra settings, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D not only had a major performance lead but also consumed less power. The 1% and 0.1% lows were exceptionally good, indicating smoother frame pacing. GPU usage was 80-90% on the Ryzen compared to just over 70% on the Intel. In other scenes, the gap was smaller at around 25%, but still large enough to highlight the 9800X3D’s superiority.

At 1440p, the lead shrinks to 12%, with identical 1% and 0.1% lows and GPU utilization above 90% in both cases. The Ryzen still consumed 40% less power. In another test scene, however, the Ryzen doubled the gap, hitting 23% higher FPS with slightly better low percentile metrics.

At 4K, the gap becomes minimal, as DICE’s shooter is no longer CPU-bound. Depending on the scene, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D was 3-7% faster, while its power draw stayed around 100-110W. The i9-14900K dropped from 170-180W down to 150-160W.

Overall, AMD’s chip beats Intel’s, making it the better choice for those gaming primarily at 1080p.
