Que se passe-t-il chez Valve de Gabe Newell ? Au-delà du nouveau Half-Life ! [VIDEO]

Tyler McVicker, editor of the Valve News Network, tried to sum up what Valve is up to these days.

Valve is of course continuing work on Deadlock, which the team finally confirmed this year after a long silence. Updates like Ragdoll physics, localization and shader modifications are planned. In addition, Gabe Newell’s team has partnered with a tech startup that specializes in realistic natural environments… presumably for Half-Life 3. An original Half-Life 2 developer has rejoined Valve to work on an unannounced project (possibly Half-Life 3?) after his involvement in the documentary. The company also inadvertently leaked internal SteamVR builds that revealed future ARM compatibility, and SteamVR updates hint at broader integration of the ARM ecosystem…

Then there’s the Deckard VR headset, which could be a next-generation all-in-one headset. It has an ARM-based CPU, similar to Meta Quest. It has inside-out tracking and supposedly supports both standalone and tethered gaming, so you don’t have to tether it to a PC, but you can use it standalone without. It acts as a sort of “Steam Deck VR”, playing games from your Steam library on a virtual screen. There will also be potential 3D depth functionality for “flat” games, similar to Nvidia’s GeForce 3D.

Roy controllers were then discussed. The design has been improved, so instead of knobs, expect quest-style controllers. There will also be different control schemes, including the D-pad and face buttons. There’s also the possibility of finger tracking via on-board cameras. McVicker also talked about the Steam Controller 2, which will resemble a screenless Steam Deck with VR tracking. Half-Life X (or Half-Life 3) could make use of Arty’s tools, which could be revived as a tech demo for Deckard. Leaked SteamVR builds have shown ARM compatibility and confirmed hybrid play for Deckard. McVicker speculates that Half-Life X (which will either be Half-Life 3 or a related project) may use Arty assets ported to Source 2, and that Arty may be revived as a tech demo for Deckard.

But this is all unofficial!
