Quel est le lien entre Avowed et Pillars of Eternity ? Obsidian explique ! [VIDEO]

In a half-hour video from Gamescom, Microsoft’s studio confirmed how the first-person RPG, which we mentioned the other day would have a surprising frame rate, is related to Pillars of Eternity…

Avowed was never presented by Microsoft and Obsidian as a sequel to Pillars of Eternity, but only as a story set in the world of Eora. It turns out that the story of Avowed takes place after Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire! This is surprising because there were big events in PoE 2 and a lot of the endings were different. At first it seemed like it would be more of a prequel story, because it felt a bit medieval in the first video…

It could also have been a foreshadowing of the idea that we could control the Imperial Ambassador in Obsidian’s next game. In the video below, however, it’s clear that the studio is alluding to the events of Deadfire before actually placing Avowed’s location in the timeline. In one mission, we help a priest of Eothas, the main villain of Pillars of Eternity 2 (who wields a magical crystal giant). He is searching for an artifact. In the background, you can see the priest trying to build some sort of giant crystal effigy for Eothas. It is then revealed that it is a miniature replica of Eothas, and that it is also powered by damned souls. Then, in the mission’s dialog, they refer to the destruction of Eothas as an event that happened directly in the past!

So Obsidian Entertainment has openly and directly confirmed that Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire takes place after Avowed, and it’s exciting because based on the ending of Deadfire, no matter what we choose, Eothas breaks the cycle of death and rebirth, so the creatures of the world will have to deal with the consequences of that. And the new location (the Living Lands) relieves Obsidian of the burden of portraying the characters in the previous location struggling with the changes.

Avowed is coming to Xbox Series and PC on February 18th. It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass.
